"Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening." -Coco Chanel

FAT or Fabulous?

Hello my fellow Sophisticates! I am so sorry that I have not written a real heavy duty post in a long time! My life has been absolutely chaotic with school, work, birthdays, and the holidays and I have had absolutely no time to sit down and write anything not involving great American novels or chemistry, so I decided that since I am on break for a little while, I would sit down and write a somewhat heartfelt post about some issues that I have been seeing/facing lately.

For those of you who know me or have seen me in my YouTube videos know that I am not a size 2 model-esque girl. I am a sturdy, curvy, "bigger boned" girl. Yes, I am slightly overweight, but who isn't these days? I am somewhat subconscious of what I put on my body and how other people see me to the point of where I will stop wearing half the clothes in my closet if they cling to me the slightest bit. I understand that this is a problem that I only can fix, but to me, it really isn't a problem at all. It gives me a chance to change things up a bit and create a new image for myself. I know what some of you are probably thinking..."this is unhealthy for you to ignore" or "get off your ass and change yourself so you don't hate what you see in the mirror," regardless of these thoughts, I am comfortable with who I am and how I appear to the people around me.

I have had people in my life constantly calling me "fat" or that "it wouldn't hurt for me to loose a few pounds." It is not only painful to hear these statements, it is gut wrenching when you are actually confident about how you look. It is even more devastatingly painful to know that these people are very close to me and are supposed to be some of my biggest supporters but that they would rather tear others down to make themselves feel better about how they act or look. In the last month, I have confronted these people and put them in my own shoes. Not for revenge, but rather to show them just how ugly they are on the inside when they degrade others. After these people were able to understand the consequences of their actions, we came to an agreement. It was declared that if a person is happy with who they are and what they see in the mirror every day, it shouldn't matter what others have to say or think about you, because only your own opinion should matter. Once we both understood this and left one another alone, it hit me. I am FAT.

Not "obese", not "chubby," not "bigger boned," but FAT. The meaning of this word is not found in any dictionary, but rather in a person's soul. FAT, Fabulous And Thankful. I am FAT! Fabulous and loving every part of myself and Thankful, for the body, mind, and soul I have been given and would not give up in a million years. "Skinny" does not describe a person's soul but rather their body, whereas FAT describes every ounce of a woman (or man's) being. So whether you are a size 12 or a size 2, you can be FAT and happy! Or even FAT and healthy! Do not let anyone else tell you different! And now that the 2015 is just around the corner, be sure that your number one resolution is not "loose weight," "get skinny," or to "change," but rather to learn to love yourself! I can guarantee that it will make for a healthier and happier you! So if you want to change and create a new image for yourself, start with finding ways to make you fall in love with your mind, soul, and body, and remember that you have only been given this one life and this one body. Let's be sure to make the best of this new year and remember that only YOU can make YOU happy!

I hope you all have learned a little thing or two from this post and that you will never give another person the power to change you. Remember, you are all BEAUTIFUL! Just the way you are x

Much Love and Good Luck! x
